The Department of Defense has identified 3,683 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the death of the following American yesterday:

BIRCHETT, Alicia A., 29, Staff Sgt., Army; Mashpee, Mass.; 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault.

HENSEL, Shawn D., 20, Pfc., Army; Logansport, Ind.; Second Infantry Division, Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
